The Attorney General is the legal advisor to the government of British Columbia and is charged with ensuring that the administration of public affairs is carried out in accordance with the law. The Ministry of Attorney General is structured to carry out this mandate under the direction of the Attorney General, and Legal Services Branch (LSB) supports the Ministry in fulfilling this mandate by serving as legal advisor to government in civil law matters. LSB provides legal advice to government and ensures that legal risks associated with government operations are reduced. LSB's clients include all ministries of the government, Cabinet and certain public agencies.

Reporting to the Resource Management Strategist (RMS), the Human Resources Coordinator (HRC) coordinates and administers a variety of programs and initiatives that support employee engagement, organizational development and strategic workforce planning. This position also provides support to the HR Manager (HRM) as required. The position will provide HR advice and support related to routine collective agreement and crown counsel agreement interpretation and application of other HR matters including: initiating and monitoring of MyHR requests, hiring competition support, maintaining of HR records, committee support, along with other general HR related tasks.

Job Requirements:
  • Certificate, diploma or degree in a related field such as human resources, public administration, business administration and one year of recent (within the last five years) experience leading or supporting HR related initiatives.

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered as follows:
  • At least 2 years of demonstrated experience leading or supporting HR related initiatives (within the past 7 years).
  • Experience providing excellent customer service including building and cultivating relationships, managing conflict and client expectations;
  • Experience working with confidential and sensitive information and files;
  • Experience with information systems and spreadsheets.

Preference may be given to applicants with experience in any of the following areas:
  • Experience researching, analyzing and monitoring HR information and processes including staffing and recruitment.
  • Experience with Corporate Human Resource Information and Payroll System (CHIPS);
  • Experience supporting HR related initiatives in a government setting;
  • Experience facilitating training or information sessions on HR related topics (virtually and/or in-person).
