AWS IoT Core is a fully managed platform that enables customers to easily and securely connect devices to the AWS cloud using industry standard protocols.
Our team has a broad charter that includes building authentication and authorization mechanisms uniquely suited to IoT devices, onboarding services for initial device configuration and also services used to persist device metadata and state in the cloud. We invest heavily in building, operating and relentlessly improving highly reliable, scalable and performant distributed systems.
We are seeking innovative front-end engineers with experience on both front-end interfaces and back-end systems. You will help define the system architecture, own and implement specific components, and help shape the overall experience. You'll collaborate closely with product management, UX designers and other software engineers to help define and realize products that enable the control of millions of IoT devices.
You will take responsibility for technical problem solving, creatively meeting product objectives, and developing best practices. You will demonstrate cross-functional resource interaction to accomplish our goals. You will play a role in defining processes and methods to improve the productivity of the entire team. This position involves on-call responsibilities, typically for one week every two months. We don't like getting paged in the middle of the night or on the weekend, so we work to ensure that our systems are fault tolerant. When we do get paged, we work together to resolve the root cause so that we don't get paged for the same issue twice.

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical discipline (or equivalent experience).
- 2+ years of professional front-end development.
- Skilled with common front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, JS, TypeScript, and Node.
- Solid coding practices including peer code reviews, unit/integration/performance testing, and a preference for agile development.
- Ability to rapidly prototype and adjust in response to customer feedback
- Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience building scalable, distributed, front-end experiences.
- Experience building reusable UX components or libraries.
- Understands how to optimize the delivery of code and assets to a browser or device.
- Proficient in a broad range of software design approaches and common UX patterns.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities in an engineering environment in driving operational excellence and best practices
