The position is part of a team that creates technology and innovation policy and programs to help create clean and inclusive economic development for BC.
The Innovation Programs and Partnerships branch coordinates and supports innovation, technology and commercialization across the province and enables information sharing between the province, industry, the federal government and other jurisdictions.
To advance innovation, the branch collaborates with ministries across the provincial government and works closely with B.C.'s tech sector. The branch also oversees the work of Innovate BC, a Crown agency tasked with promoting the commercialization of technology and helping entrepreneurs get new innovative products into the global market to enhance B.C.'s competitiveness and provide high quality jobs for British Columbians. It also provides support for B.C.'s Parliamentary Secretary for Technology and Innovation and B.C.'s Innovation Commissioner.
The Research Officer supports the development and implementation of programs and communicates results through various forums including briefings to ministry executive. The position regularly works with partners outside the ministry, including Innovate BC. Under the limited direction of the Director, regular tasks of the Research Officer include research, analysis, planning, and coordination of projects that support the development and implementation of programs to accelerate the commercialization of innovation and technology.

Job Requirements:
In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below: - Master's Degree in a related field of study and 1 year of *related experience; or
- Bachelor's Degree ina related field of study and 2 years of *related experience; or
- Diploma ina related field of study and 3 years of *related experience.
*Related experience must include a combination of the following:
- Experience researching policy issues and conducting policy analysis.
- Experience managing projects and/or project components.
- Experience in designing and conducting qualitative and quantitative research.
Preference may be given to applicants with: - Experience in the technology sector.
