The AWS Identity team innovates, builds, and operates the identity and access management services to enable AWS customers run their business workloads confidently and securely in the AWS cloud. We enable customers to securely manage identities, resources, and permissions at scale. We operate some of the largest distributed systems in the world, processing over 400 million requests per second.

Our mission is to provide an intuitive workflow for AWS customers to manage access their most critical workloads. As part of this mission, we use automated reasoning techniques to guide customers to set and manage appropriate access controls across all their AWS environments.

We are growing our team with individuals passionate about building products for all AWS customers that combine automated reasoning and machine learning. We are seeking a passionate senior software development engineer to build an AWS solution to help customers seamlessly improve the security of their cloud assets. We innovate in a highly technical space. You will provide technical leadership and work with a team to build solutions on a global scale, own systems end to end, and influence the direction of technology used by all AWS customers globally. You will define and implement systems with high standards for architecture, design, code quality, and operational excellence. You will have the opportunity to drive mission-critical projects and collaborate with senior leaders and partner teams to deliver impactful changes to AWS. You will work with others, from mentoring junior developers to collaborating with principal engineers, to deliver new solutions to customers and raise the bar for your team's software development.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

M.S or Ph.D Degree in computer science, computer engineering or related technical discipline
5+ years of professional software development experience
5+ years of programming experience with Java, Scala, Go, Python, C/C++, Rust including object-oriented design
3+ years of experience contributing to the architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling of new and current systems
Strong Computer Science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithm design, and complexity analysis
Experience serving as technical lead throughout the full software development lifecycle, end-to-end, from scoping, planning, conception, design, implementation, code review, and testing to documentation, delivery and maintenance.
Creates reliable/maintainable code and finds creative and scalable solutions to complex problems
Experience driving the technical design and implementation of large-scale, multi-tiered software applications using service oriented architectures

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

M.S Degree or Ph.D in Computer Science or equivalent
10+ years industry experience as a Software Engineer or Developer
Interest in or experience with automated reasoning and machine learning
Experience with distributed, multi-tiered systems, algorithms, and relational databases
Demonstrated track record of project delivery for large, cross-functional projects with evolving requirements
Demonstrated ability to mentor and grow junior software engineers in all aspects of their engineering duties.
Track record of interviewing & hiring top tier engineering talent
Proactively resolves team architecture deficiencies and mitigates longterm risks
Experience influencing software engineers best practices within your team
Excellent written and verbal technical communication with an ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences
Exceptional customer relationship skills including the ability to discover the true requirements underlying feature requests, recommend alternative technical and business approaches, and lead engineering efforts to meet aggressive timelines with optimal solutions
Experience with or interest in AWS or cloud computing in general
